Sometimes it can sound like a faint cymbal or ringing noise. If it gets louder it can mean more has joined it or that you have said something to get it all worked up.

Sometimes it can sound like clicking on glass as though something is trying to get into your ear.
Strong pulsation in the thumbs, ears, stomach, pelvic or groin areas that are not present in other parts of the body.
Sudden promiscuity
If you do the math on every single person experiencing these things, the sum of them are a hell of a lot larger than what statistics are showing. That is just the peope who are actually reporting this to an authority who keeps track. The left ear can sound different then the right, if a person pays attention they can sense which direction the communication is coming from.
